Flange Types

Lap Joint (LJF)

Lap Joint flanges are most often used with stub ends. They are free to rotate or swivel making bolt hole alignment very easy. This simplifies the erection of large diameter or unusually stiff piping. They are also commonly used in piping systems where frequent dismantling for inspection or cleaning is necessary.

The principle use of a Lap Joint Flange (and a Lap Joint Stub End) is in services which require frequent dismantling for inspection and or cleaning.

The lap joint flange's freedom to swivel facilitates the lining up pf apposing flange blot holes. Another advantage is the lack of contact with the product in the pipe often permmits the use of less expensive carbon steel flanges with corrosion resitant pipe and fitings.

Tri-Lad manufactures Lap Joint flanges to the following Specifications.

  • ASME/ANSI B16.5
